Meet our team

Emma Ellam, BBO ATS (L4)

Emma began dancing at the age of 3, studying a number of dance genres and has gained qualifications in classical ballet, tap, jazz, theatre craft, stage, disco and ballroom. Her training and extreme passion for dance naturally led her into the dance profession and she has over 4 years professional experience working in both the UK and overseas as a dancer, choreographer and lead vocalist.
Emma taught dance for 8 years in various schools across South Yorkshire before finally achieving her life long ambition of opening her own dance school in 2008. Emma studied at the prestigious bbodance (British Ballet Organization) headquarters in London, where she graduated as a qualified dance teacher. Her qualifications include a Level 4 Dance Diploma in Dance Teaching from bbodance and BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Lucy Moore, BSc(Hons) MSc
Dance Teacher, Physiotherapist and Fitness Instructor

Lucy is a dance professional who trained in ballet, tap and jazz. Through working in both the UK and abroad she has gained extensive experience in street dance and salsa. Her professional dance experience includes assistant choreographer and dancer for Medplaya hotels Spain, choreographer of multiple shows still running in the Costa Blanca, singer and choreographer/dancer in several shows including Vogue, tribute to Madonna, Cheryl Cole the tribute and has recently joined Sister Act here in the UK.

Lucy is also a fully qualified physiotherapist with a BSc(Hons) degree in Physiotherapy and a MSc in Advancing Physiotherapy. These skills allow Lucy to bring this knowledge to our students allowing her to focus on their core strength, fitness and wellbeing.

Steven Hayles
Dance Teacher

Steven began street dancing from an early age taking him to college where he found his love for contemporary dance.  Studying under the watchful eye of his dance teacher Penny Hargreaves, she placed him forward to audition for Rambert Contemporary Dance School in London.  Steven has a wealth of experience on the stage having lead roles in many successful productions such as Rent, Best of Broadway and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.  He is also a lead singer of a very successful covers band touring the UK.  Steven brings his years of experience to EPDA in both dance and as a performer and uses this to really get the best out of our students.  Steven teaches a variety of classes at EPDA, specialising in Street Dance.

Claire Eames, BMus(Hons) DipABRSM
Music and Singing Teacher

Claire studied music at the University of Bangor in Wales, followed by training with the Welsh National Opera delivering music in schools from nursery up to college age. Her professional qualifications include a BMus(Hons) degree and Diploma from the The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM) which is recognised by musicians around the world. Claire has spent her entire career working with children and young people which saw her work as a music therapist for Holbrook Centre for Autism, as a freelance teacher and in residential settings teaching music to vulnerable adults. Claire is passionate about music and singing and has set up her own choirs and ensembles. For more info check out her website at Claire Eames Music. Claire provides singing, piano and music theory lessons at EPDA.  She also assists Emma teaching Musical Theatre.

Simon Carr, BA(Hons)
Drama Teacher

Simon is an experienced drama teacher who has undertaken extensive training and has a wealth of acting and directing experience. His qualifications include BA(Hons) in Theatre Performances and BA(Hons) in Theatre Studies. He has also undertaken training in Physical Theatre, Vocal Technique, Latin American Dance, T.I.E and he is a fully qualified London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) teacher. Simon directs many shows each year in local theatres.
His professional work includes: Films - Stone Scissors Paper, 4 Fathers; Pantomime Theatre - King Rat, Abanazer, Sheriff of Nottingham; Plays - Gandolf in Lord of the Rings with English Playtours, Jaberwocky, Midsummer Nights Dreams.
Simon teaches a variety of drama technical skills, as well as producing productions for our drama group and progressing students towards LAMDA examinations.

Alice Smith
Dance Teacher

Alice trained at EPDA for 8 years before taking up the role of dance teacher at our school.  She has received training in classical ballet, tap, modern, limbering, street dance and musical theatre. She is an experienced performer who has taken part in many shows in prestigious locations such as Her Majesty's Theatre, London and Disneyland Paris. She has a real passion for the performing arts, especially Musical Theatre. Alice helps out wherever she can at EPDA and teaches a variety of classes.

Claire Freeman
Office Manager

After 22 years of working within education with children, Claire joined EPDA as our Office Manager. Claire assists with the smooth running of our office reception at EPDA, helping organise events, preparing for show performances and much more! She is always available during class times to answer questions and help students and parents. Claire is extremely enthusiastic about what dance and the performing arts have to offer children and adults, and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with children from her previous role. She's looking forward to many more exciting times to come at EPDA!
