Meet our team

Emma Ellam, bbodance (L5)

Emma began dancing at the age of 3, studying a number of dance genres and has gained qualifications in classical ballet, tap, jazz, theatre craft, stage, disco and ballroom. Her training and extreme passion for dance naturally led her into the dance profession and she has over 4 years professional experience working in both the UK and overseas as a dancer, choreographer and lead vocalist.
Emma taught dance for 8 years in various schools across South Yorkshire before finally achieving her life long ambition of opening her own dance school in 2008. Emma studied at the prestigious bbodance (British Ballet Organization) headquarters in London, where she graduated as a qualified dance teacher. Her qualifications include a Level 5 Dance Diploma in Dance Teaching from bbodance and BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Sophie Frost
Dance Teacher

Sophie started dancing at a young age of 4 studying ballet, tap, modern and street dance.  Her passion for it has grown ever since.  Since graduating Phil Winston's Theatreworks in Blackpool she has performed as a dancer for magician Michael Jordan and also performed on board P&O Crusie Ships Oriana, Azura and obtained the Company director role onboard the Oceana.  Since leaving P&O she was dance captain for Viva Productions (UK tour).  Sophie teaches a variety of genres at EPDA.

Ellie Frankham
Dance Teacher

Ellie began dancing at the age of 4 and worked her way through the bbodance syllabus covering ballet, tap and Jazz.  At the age of 18 she began her career touring shows both in the UK and Asia before working onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL).  She also danced as part of Vaudeville Productions onboard P&O minicruises, Fjord Line and Page & Moy cruises.  Ellie loves teaching all ages but specialises in our EPDA Tiny Feet - Grade 1 levels in Ballet, Tap and Modern.

James Lomas
Vocal Coach & Dance Teacher

James is an actor and professional performer. He has worked in the West End in many shows for 13 years including starring as the original 'Billy' in Billy Elliot the musical and became the youngest actor to receive a 'Laurence Olivier Award' for Best Actor.

Credits - (Stage) Dirty Dancing, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita and Starlight Express.
(Film and Television) King Ponce, MTV Super Sweet 16 UK, Vocal judge on BBC1 talent show All Together Now alongside Geri Halliwell and Rob Beckett.

Steven Hayles
Dance Teacher

Steven began street dancing from an early age taking him to college where he found his love for contemporary dance.  Studying under the watchful eye of his dance teacher Penny Hargreaves, she placed him forward to audition for Rambert Contemporary Dance School in London.  Steven has a wealth of experience on the stage having lead roles in many successful productions such as Rent, Best of Broadway and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.  He is also a lead singer of a very successful covers band touring the UK.  Steven brings his years of experience to EPDA in both dance and as a performer and uses this to really get the best out of our students.  Steven teaches a variety of classes at EPDA, specialising in Street Dance.

Alice Smith
Dance Teacher

Alice trained at EPDA for 8 years before taking up the role of dance teacher at our school.  She has received training in classical ballet, tap, modern, limbering, street dance and musical theatre. She is an experienced performer who has taken part in many shows in prestigious locations such as Her Majesty's Theatre, London and Disneyland Paris. She has a real passion for the performing arts, especially Musical Theatre. Alice helps out wherever she can at EPDA and teaches a variety of classes.

Claire Freeman
Office Manager

After 22 years of working within education with children, Claire joined EPDA as our Office Manager. Claire assists with the smooth running of our office reception at EPDA, helping organise events, preparing for show performances and much more! She is always available during class times to answer questions and help students and parents. Claire is extremely enthusiastic about what dance and the performing arts have to offer children and adults, and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with children from her previous role. She's looking forward to many more exciting times to come at EPDA!
